Project Story
The Challenge
This Los Altos home had solid bones but felt dark and segmented. Low ceilings made the living areas feel cramped, the kitchen was isolated behind walls, and the exterior had lost its charm over the years. The homeowners wanted a bright, open home without the cost of a full teardown and rebuild.
Our Approach
We vaulted the main ceiling and added skylights to flood the interior with natural light. The kitchen wall came down to create an open-concept layout centered around a white oak island with custom cabinetry. We curated a cohesive black pendant lighting suite to tie the spaces together. On the exterior, we redesigned the facade with a Craftsman-style entry, new landscaping, and a stone walkway that gives the home real street presence.
The Result
The transformation was dramatic — neighbors literally stopped to comment during the final weeks of construction. The vaulted ceilings and skylights made the home feel twice its size. The homeowners said it felt like moving into a brand-new house without leaving the neighborhood they love. Completed in about four months.
